I took my Brother and Sister-in-Law's Family portrait yesterday and as I was looking at them after I had uploaded them this one caught my eye. There were so many good shoots to choose from but this one pulled at my heart strings. My brother is such a wonderful father and this shot to me says it all.

Anything To Get Him To Sit Still
It took my forever to get a nice picture of Matty sitting still. I finally had the bright idea to give him a book the flip through, and thank god he did. I used the natural light from his window and a reflector. They could be better but getting him to sit still for this shot was a miracle in its self.

Practice, Practice, Practice
I have my first photo shoot this coming weekend. And I have to admit I'm a little nervous. Even if it is family, I really don't want to mess up. I guess that's why I've been practicing whenever I can with my off camera flash, floodlight and backdrops. Oh and anyone who will sit and pose for me like Matthew (who is like a moving target), My in-laws, the dogs, flowers, shoes.
Here is some of what I've done:

At Longwood
The pictures below are some of favorites from Longwood Gardens. The first two I took over Mother's Day weekend 06'. This was also the weekend for the Orchid Show. But I will post some of those at a later date. The bottom two were taken in late August on a trip with my friend Jessica Perry. We both wanted so badly to see the water lilies in bloom so we planned our trip around the best time to see them.

The Picture That Started It All
I love to capture the wonders of nature be it a butterfly drinking the sweet nectar from a flower or the never ending waves of the ocean.
After I found out I was pregnant I became intrigued with the idea of pregnancy and children photography. I did in fact take my own pregnancy picture with our old digital point and shoot, but after the birth of our son my wonderful husband gave me the gift of Digital SLR with the Nikon D50. We were to then learn that 6 of our friends were expecting. "Why not start my own business," I thought. So I did. With the help of friends posing as models baring their beautiful bellies for the camera and my son Matthew with his endless array of facial expressions K. Cleaver Photography was born.
